Approach - DSM to CDM 

a. Demand Side Management (DSM):

This part deals with the reduction in Maximum Demand of the plant by using monitoring and controlling systems

b. Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency (EC & EE):

The work involved in this part is to identify and recommend the energy conservation opportunities and energy efficiency measures required to be taken in case of various equipments in the plant.

Towards this end, benchmarking of specific energy consumption will be done. The performance factor for this exercise will be with respect to specific energy consumption, thus the performance of this exercise will be judged by improvement in the benchmark specific energy consumption.

 This exercise helps to reduce the load on the infrastructure energy consumption.

c. Power Installation Condition Evaluation (PICE):

This part deals with the evaluation of the current leakages and the insulation resistances so as to know the current operating condition of the installations and to take any corrective actions, if required.

 d. Renewable Energy (RE) profiling and load matching:

It deals with evaluating the solar and wind energy profiles at the site and matching the load shapes of the plant with the energy source for  optimization.

  

e. Registration for Carbon Credits (CDM):

This involves the preparation of the Project Design Document (PDD) for registration of carbon credits along with the other industries on your Feeder for deriving the advantage of “bulking”.

Once the above steps are implemented and necessary reductions in energy consumption is achieved and recorded / planned, an application for carbon credits in form of project design document (PDD) can be prepared for combining same with those of similar others prepared for HT consumers on your Feeder to get the advantage of   “bulking” the units for claiming and becoming eligible for getting carbon credits. At present, rate of 12 Euros to 15 Euros per CER (Certified emission reduction) is being offered. Proposal for carbon credits will be submitted subsequently for the client.
